How to Use the Grocery Planner
Get your first comparison ready in under two minutes.
Name your shops
Replace "Shop A" and "Shop B" with the actual store names you visit — e.g. Checkers, Pick n Pay, Shoprite. Add a third shop if needed, then click Save Shops.
Add your item list first
Type each item name (e.g. "Bread 700g") and click Add Item. Prices are optional at this stage, so you can build your full list quickly.
Enter or edit prices in the table
Use the price inputs under each saved shop to update values from what you see in-store. Green-highlighted cells show the cheapest price per item instantly.
Export & go shopping
Click Export PDF to generate a print-ready report you can take to the store, or Export JSON to back up your list for next time.

Yes — it is 100% free to use, forever. No subscription, no login, no hidden fees.
Where is my data stored?
All your shop names and prices are saved in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is sent to a server, so your information stays completely private on your device.
Can I use it on my phone in the store?
Absolutely. The planner is fully responsive and works great on any smartphone or tablet browser.
What happens if I compare only two shops?
Shop 3 is completely optional. Remove it by clicking Toggle Shop 3 and the planner adjusts the comparison automatically.
Will my list disappear if I close the browser?
No — as long as you have saved your shops, your data persists between sessions via localStorage. Use Export JSON to create a manual backup just in case.
